Swine Flu
in San Diego County!

San Diego Country Public Health Officer Wilma Wooten reported,
on July 9th, that the virus
 is widespread in the community.
The public is encouraged to stay home
if they have influenzalike illness or
symptoms similar to the seasonal flu,
which include fever, cough,
sore throat, body aches, headache,
chills and fatigue.

The World Health Organization
designated the swine flu
a Phase 6 worldwide pandemic
on June 11, 2009.

New High Speed Rail
May Run Along Hwy. 56

The bullet train and 800-mile rail line,
from Sacramento to San Diego is
estimated to cost $40 billion-plus and
will take a decade or more to construct.
It depends heavily on federal funds.

Initial blueprints show the
route crossin east into the
Inland Empire and then shooting
south into San Diego County
along I-15 to Escondido.

El Nino is here!

On Thursday, July 9, 2009,
Federal scientists, at the
National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration,
announced El Nino's arrival
expecting the climate pattern to
last through the winter.
The climate phenomenon typically
brings more winter precipitation to
the Southwest area.


Here's to hoping it's a wet winter in San Diego County!
